Good morning.

So one of the goals that I made for myself that I’m carrying into this year is reading more books. For the remainder of 2020, I started good on this goal by listening to audiobooks while I was working from home. Here are a few audiobooks from December 2020 that I really enjoyed:

  • The Queen’s Gambit
  • Three Dark Crowns
  • Shatter Me
  • Unravel Me

The reason I wanted to get back into the habit of reading was because I spend 99% of my week, looking at a screen. From the time I start work, to the time I finish homework, my eyes are consuming information…and a lot of blue light. So much, I find myself getting back into my old habit of having my phone in bed to read and browse on social media. Not a great way to start on health goals for this year. It’s time for me to break that habit, so if you all are trying to read more books and making that one of your goals for the new year, here is what I’m doing to achieve this goal:

  • Read 2 physical books during the month:
    • One for Learning & Personal Growth:
      • Read Mondays thru Fridays
    • One for Entertainment:
      • Read Saturdays thru Sundays
  • While reading, take notes:
    • For Personal Growth- ask these questions:
      • What were the chapters about?
      • What did you learn from the reading?
      • Can the reading help you with your personal growth? Why?
      • How are you going to apply these findings to your life?
    • For Entertainment- find quotes, conversations, scenes, or characters that really stuck with you
  • After you’ve read the book, create a book note
  • Create a blog post about the book using your book notes

I already have my two books to read for personal growth and for entertainment. The first book is “Thin Within: A Grace-Oriented Approach to Lasting Weight Loss” by Judy Halliday, R.N. & Arthur Halliday, M.D. The other book is called “The Ten Thousand Doors of January” by Alix E. Harrow. I just started my reading journey this week, “Thin Within” is a 30 Day workbook, so there will be a later update to this book. The other book, I will start this Friday evening. Hope you all are excited about these book posts, this is something that I really wanted to do for a while. Now that I have a system, I’ll be able to stick to it.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s post. If this post inspired you to start back reading again, or if you have any recommendations for good reads, leave a comment down below. I’ll talk with you all tomorrow.

Until next time…
